The Republican 100,000 Club of Oneida County held a rally on October 7, 2009. Oneida County Chairman, George Joseph, offered the location at his Apple Orchard/Farm Store greenhouse. He donated assorted coffee, apple cider, apples, donuts, pastries & cheeses. It is North Star Orchards in Westmoreland (just outside of Utica & Rome) and was a perfect location featuring local produce. Board members donated condiments, paper supplies, tomato pies, veggie platters, crackers, etc. (We all took a ton of food home.) Elected officials were invited, but many paid the $10 donation. We auctioned many donated gift baskets. A big area was decorated with bales of hay, pumpkins, scarecrows, etc. along with flag buntings, etc. It was beautiful! All of this cost nothing. Absolutely no expenses due to our county chairman and board members. We made more money than we ever have made before. Unfortunately, the weather was windy, raining & cold. We were all cold, but most people stayed right till the end! This was a rare event for us and probably can never be done again, but we took a chance, made a lot of money & we’ll be giving it away to our Republican candidates.
We held "An Evening in Rome" on May 18, 2009 at the Franklin Hotel in Rome, NY. They treated us to an Italian buffet and they have the best home made Italian bread in the state! Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente was the guest speaker.
