In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn’t take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.
FLY THE FLAG... SHOW THE WORLD... We will never forget.
MELP - NFRW’s Mamie Eisenhower Literacy Program
RWCO has participated in this program for a number of years, donating recommended (and desired) books (hardcover and/or audio) to the Ontario Public Library. Susan Nash, MELP Chair for RWCO, has arranged with Librarian Sandra Hylen for this year’s donations in the Club’s name: Samuel Adams, A Life by Ira Stoll, We the People, the Story of Our Constitution by Lynne Cheney and Atlas Shrugged (Audio CD) by Ayn Rand.
Update on 25th Congressional District seat race...
NOTE: OUR candidate Ann Marie Buerkle continues to travel the district meeting and listening to residents and will be in Macedon on Sunday, September 12th and Ontario on Wednesday, September 29.
A recent series of polls commissioned by the independent American Action Forum (an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization) confirms that Republican Conservative and Independence challenger Ann Marie Buerkle’s campaign continues to gain momentum against Democrat incumbent Dan Maffei. The poll of 400 registered and likely voters in NY-25 conducted between July 28th and August 1st shows Buerkle within three percentage points of Maffei, 44% to 41%.
At an event in Skaneateles August 21st, House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio lent his support to Republican, Conservative and Independence candidate for U.S. Congress Ann Marie Buerkle.
Buerkle released her COMPACT 25 on August 10, an agreement with the voters of the 25th District of New York. It was developed from voters concerns about the lack of jobs, the national debt, the overreach of the federal government, the need for true Healthcare Reform, and our National Security. You can read and/or sign this document at http://www.compact25.com. In July Buerkle was endored by both Sarah Palin and the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund. [The District covers ALL of Wayne and Onondaga Counties, the northernmost portion of Cayuga County and the towns of Irondequoit, Penfield and Webster in Monroe County. The Republican/Conservative/Independence candidate for the 25th CD is Ann Marie Buerkle - a native of Auburn, New York, Ms. Buerkle is a nurse and accomplished attorney working in healthcare, mother of six and grandmother of eleven. She is also a former member of the Syracuse Common Council. For more information - http://buerkleforcongress.com/ The incumbent is Dan Maffai, elected in 2007, who will face Ms. Buerkle in the November 2nd election.]

He stressed that the Credit Union is making every effort to prevent these crimes happening to their clients, but consumers must be diligent and careful.
Also Dan Olson spoke on political activities within the county and the upstate area. Judge Higgins spoke about the upcoming local elections. Volunteers are needed for sign postings, letters of support and making reminder phone calls prior to election. A victory party will be held at the Legion.
