The Wyoming County Women’s Republican Club had their spring luncheon meeting on May 1, 2010 at the Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park in Castile, New York.  The group was greeted by President Jane Stephens.  Doug Patti, Supervisor of the Town of Attica gave the invocation and the benediction.  Several dignitaries, candidates and members were in attendance.  Don O’Geen, First Assistant District Attorney for Wyoming County was the featured speaker.  A 50/50 drawing, Chinese auction selections and door prizes were awarded.  Senator Dale Volker advised the group that he would not be seeking reelection as their State Senator and he would be retiring.  Assemblyman Dan Burling informed the group that he would not be running for the senator’s spot this year and that he would be running for reelection as their assemblyman.  Other candidates spoke briefly.  The highlight of the meeting was the election of the new slate of officers whom were installed by their 8th JD Director Gert Penepent.  Everyone enjoyed this informative and interesting meeting.

The Wyoming County Women’s Republican Club had a good turn out for our fall brunch yesterday, October 10, 2010.  Senator Dale Volker and Assemblyman Dan Burling were present and announced that they are both running for re-election next year. The event was held at the Charcoal Corral, Fiesta Room in Perry which has a very cozy atmosphere and excellent food.

We honored Betty Rice of Perry, NY who  just retired from being a member of our County Republican Committee after 45 years, she has been a member of the Women’s Club that long as well or since it’s inception in Wyoming County.  Other distinguished guests were Charlotte Smallwood-Cook of Warsaw, NY,  still practicing attorney after 53 years and who was the first elected woman District Attorney in New York State, back in 1949, I  believe, Charlotte served 3 terms as our Wyoming County Republican Committee Chairperson; Carole Butler, of Warsaw, NY, current OTB Director for Wyoming County, also a former County Committee Chairperson; A. Douglas Berwanger, Chairman, Wyoming County Board of Supervisors, Attica Town Supervisor, Doug Patti, Castile Town Supervisor, Joe Gozelski, Covington Town Supervisor, Jerry Davis; former County Clerk, Janet Coveny AND our candidates for County Offices, Rhonda Pierce, County Clerk, Cheryl Mayer, County Treasurer, Becky Ryan, who is running for Town Supervisor in Warsaw.  (YOU GO GIRLS!!!)

Our Guest Speaker was Tom Dixon, Chairman, Town of Gainesville Republican Committee who has been working closely with Michael Simpson, a young man who is trying to establish The WYOMING COUNTY YOUNG REPUBLICANS CLUB.  Mike had to work and therefore, Tom took over for him.  We had quite a bit of interest in taking applications and information for this Club.

Wyoming County Women’s Republican Club held their spring luncheon on May 2nd, 2009 at the Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park.  The luncheon was well attended.  The guest speaker was Ron Krawiec, CEO of the Wyoming County Community Health System who spoke about the ongoing renovations being made to the facility.  A Chinese auction was held as a fund raiser for the club.  Other guests included: Doug Patti, Town of Attica Supervisor; Congressman Chris Lee; Senator Dale Volker; and Assemblyman Dan Burling . The fall brunch will be held on October 10th.
