President’s Message
The April 8th meeting will have respresentatives from Alive with Autism present. This organization has worked with many local families and has helped get these families through difficult times. Autism is a condition we know little about and it touches many of our families and friends. As of today, they have assisted four local families with getting the iPod Touch and the Proloquo2go software. This combination makes a more portable communication device, with minimized social consciousness for its user. It also provides the readily accessible ability to activate and use the user’s interests, which can assist with the management of unpredictable situations while maintaining the dignity of the user. This technology is a key point of interest because of its ability to assist, especially teens with autism, its users in engaging their environments with increased social acceptance.
Help them to help more. With the help of donations from supporters, we will all see improvements in aiding persons with autism. Every penny will go directly to children with autism in our community. If you know a family or an individual that could benefit from this organization’s assistance, please contac them:

In the past we have had collections during our meeting to support our Caring for American projects. Because of our fundraising success, we have had funds for these projects and we have not had the need to do so this year. However, a special collection will be taken at our April meeting to help this wonderful group. If you cannot attend the meeting, please send what you can to them.
We are starting the election season for 2010 with candidates declarin their intent to run for local and statewide office in November. Several of these offices are being sought after by more than one Republican and it appears we will have several primaries in September. The BCRWC and its President is not permitted, by national, state and local by-laws, to endorse any candidate until after the Primary is settled. We will have our traditional Candidate’s Night in October and all candidates will be invited to speak at that time.

I thank everyone who participated in this project. We sold all the tickets and our Scholarship Project is now funded for another year. Also a very BIG THANK YOU to the anonymous donor of the print...we could not have had this success without your generosity.
