Our 27th President, Linda Montero Wagner  was elected President of the New York State Federation of Republican Women in April 2013 to a two-year term.  Here she is being presented by Rae Lynn Chomensky, President of the National Federation of Republican Women with a NYS Senatorial Proclamation supporting her which was obtained by Senator Tom Libous, who represents her home town.

Linda notes:  In 1979 I moved from Suffok County, New York to Orange County, California.  I was invited by friends to attend the La Habra Republican Women, Federated, my first experience with the Republican Women’s Federated Clubs.  I became a member of the La Habra Republican Women and served as Treasurer, 1st Vice President, and President and also was appointed to serve on the City of La Habra Planning Commission. During my time in La Habra I attended County conferences, as well as State and National Federation Conferences and found them to be a wonderful networking and learning opportunity.

While I lived in Orange County I also worked for the Neighborhood Housing Services of La Habra and Santa Ana. NHS is a private non-profit, federally chartered organization that works with residents, government, and local businesses to rehabilitate declining neighborhoods. I functioned as a bilingual liaison between the Banking and Insurance community, local government and the residents of the target neighborhoods in La Habra and Santa Ana in Orange County.

I also had the opportunity to work for Grant Piston Rings, a manufacturer of automtove piston rings.  During this time I served in the capacity of Export Administator and was liaison with clients in Central and South America.  I processed documenmtation, in both English and Spanish for freight forwarders, the Export-Import Bank, and I negotiated international letters of credit we received from clients.

After moving to Anaheim Hills I joined the Anaheim Republican Women, Federated and served as President.  During this period I worked for Human Options, a domestic violence agency in Orange County, California and I was amazed to learn how widespread domestic violence is in our society.

In 2002 I became reacquainted with a good high school friend, Bob Wagner, and we were married in September of 2004.  He brought me to Broome County and I immediately did three things:  (1) I registered to vote, (2) I got a library card, and (3) I joined the Broome County Republican Women’s Club.  I have been privileged to serve the New York State Federation of Republican Women on the nominating committee in 2006, as the Legislative Chair, and as 2nd Vice President.  I was honored to have been appointed to the New York State Republican Committee and have served on the Broome County Republican Committee.
