The NYSFRW’s Women Power PAC funds have been distributed to the 2009 candidates. Twelve candidates who ran for office in November 2009 requested a contribution from the PAC for their campaigns:  Linda Graber, candidate for Town Clerk, from Darien; Cecile Forte, candidate for Town Clerk, from Brookhaven; Lori Rieman, candidate for District Attorney for Cattaraugus County; Shelly Schratz, candidate for County Legislator from Erie County; Donna Bolner, candidate for County Legislator from Dutchess County; Katie Bonelli, candidate for County Legislator from Orange County; Jackie Mendez, candidate for County Legislator from Monroe County; Debbie Drawe, candidate for County Legislator from Monroe County; Mary Valerio, candidate for County Legislator from Monroe County; Trudey White-Hamilton, candidate for Council Member at Large for the City of Canandaigua; Angie Carpenter, candidate for County Treasurer of Suffolk County; and Pamela A. Helming, candidate for the Town Board of the Town of Canandaigua.  PAC contributions were made to all twelve of these candidates.

The PAC will be accepting applications from those individuals who are running for office in the General Election in November of 2010 after the September 2010 Primary Election is held.

At that time, Republican women running for office at the state or district level may apply using the following guidelines set up by the PAC Committee:

  1. Any Republican woman candidate selected by primary or electoral process may apply.
  2. Applicants must supply a resume, concise background information of the position they are seeking, and be available for interview by the committee if necessary.
  3. Resumes should be received by October 1, 2010.
  4. Candidates must have a campaign organization and a plan.
  5. Aid is limited to available funds. Priority is given to state races or highly contested district or local races. Selection is determined on an individual basis by the committee and presented to the Executive Board of the NYSFRW. (Congressional races are not considered.)
  6. Candidates should have some endorsements and funding, and should have a realistic chance of winning.
  7. No candidate, male or female, can solicit funds at any NYSFRW meeting or conference.

If the above requirements are met, please send your request by October 1, 2010 to:

Jill W. Jackson, 265 Kissel Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10310

Promoting the effectiveness of women in good government is a major objective of the NYSFRW and the Women Power PAC.
